The Trusts and Estates Group provides sophisticated and innovative estate and gift tax planning advice for individual clients of the firm, including the preparation of wills, various types of inter vivos and testamentary trusts and family partnership agreements and attention to related asset titling issues.  In implementing the stated desires of its clients, the group endeavors to tailor appropriate solutions for the tax effective transfer of wealth while minimizing estate and gift tax liabilities. 

The group works closely with members of the Corporate and Tax Group to provide long-term tax planning services for individual clients with closely held business interests and employee compensation packages.  In addition, lawyers in the group manage complicated estate and trust administrations and counsel clients in the establishment and maintenance of qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, proper beneficiary designations, charitable trusts and foundations.  Members of the group frequently practice before the IRS, probate and surrogate’s courts and state tax authorities.
